This is where we are with the dumbbell so far.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfJ8kWC79X0

I call this the 'steel toed boot stage.' The dumbbell weighs 2.5lbs and it would really hurt if it landed on sock/bare feet!!

Slow & steady. We'll get there!

And for anyone interested, here's a link to the method I'm using: http://shirleychong.com/keepers/retrieve.html

She has come a long way since the last videos...and that training is a lot of work....I never knew the different steps involved...I don't think many of us do...

Yes, if you want to end up with a solid, bombproof result, you have to break it down into steps that the dog can easily understand, just like with children. You can't expect them to learn algebra without understanding the concept of adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing first. Wink

If I were able to work with her several times a day, progression would be much quicker, but I'm limited by my full time job, so I'm only able to work with her once, sometimes twice a day. I try to keep the sessions short enough so that she doesn't get bored or frustrated, but long enough so that whatever we're working on can take root in her brain.

I know these videos are far from exciting, but I think it's fun to share the progress.

Oh, and I should be getting a new video recorder in the mail today, so my videos will be a lot better from here on out! I'm so excited!

I find the videos interesting....sure it will take time when you have a job, but it's well worth it when you see the results....and congratulations on the new camera...
