A brag from hexie

The extraordinary success of Gill Ogburn's INTCH/Ir.Ch/Ch Geistvoll Othello at Tamberg ("Reme" to his friends and admirers) - sire of Henrietta - Hetty for short (Tamberg's Ain't Misbehaving) from the first home-bred litter with another (also bought unseen) import from the Geistvoll kennels, who will be 10 this August and still going strong!

Bought unseen from Rene Pope of the Geistvoll Kennels in America he spent six months in quarantine before being shown.
He was Top Schnauzer 1992/93/94/96/97 and 98.. Top Stud Dog 1994/96/97/98 and 99.. Top Sire 1993/97/98 and 2000
.. he sired 15 Champions (9 UK and 6 overseas)
.. 59 CC's were won under 53 different judges.. (those who 'duplicated' were standing in for a judge unable to attend on the day due to either illness or accidents)
.. he was the first Schnauzer to carry the Irish title and the first to become an International Champion under FCI rules in that country
.. he won BIS (best in show) and RBIS (reserve best in show) in Ireland.. also the St Patricks Day group.
He represented the breed being a finalist in both the Champion and Veteran Stakes.. winning the BIS at Birmingham National, BUBA twice and Group 3 at Crufts.
At Club level he took 6 BIS and twice Schnauzer of the Year.

He died of a brain tumour just before he reached the age of 10 but he passed on many good qualities and temperament and today his grandchildren are winning in the show ring.

Hetty is the second Schnauzer being a Hearing Dog in Britain.. for some odd reasons those organisations do not consider Schnauzers as 'suitable'.. yet I have proven the breed twice, i.e. Henry (Kamajan Hooray Henry) and Hetty.

The oldest of the three varieties, the standard, or medium-sized, Schnauzer's origin remains obscure. One account say it is a cross between two now extinct breeds, the Beaver Dog of the Middle Ages and a rough-coated dog, perhaps a terrier, which was used to rid vermin. Others believe it is descended entirely from drover's dogs, including the Bouvier des Flandres to which it bears a close resemblance. The schnauzer is the stock from which the other miniature and giant breeds were derived. It is shown in paintings and in a statue dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. Originally a guard dog and ratter, it was highly valued for its intelligence and courage. A robust dog, it is characterized by a blunt, heavily whiskered muzzle, a squared body, and a hard, wiry coat of black or salt-and-pepper. The standard schnauzer is most popular as a guard and companion; it has been used as a dispatch carrier, Red Cross dog, and police dog
